Technical Advisor for the Willamette River, Portland Harbor Superfund Cleanup 2008-09
Services needed – Willamette Riverkeeper seeks a qualified contractor or team to provide assessment of cleanup research and planning at the Willamette River Portland Harbor Superfund site. This contractor should have a base of knowledge relating to toxicology, engineering, and project design. The contractor is responsible for assessing complex technical documents related to toxic chemicals in river sediments, understanding and identifying key issues related to the cleanup of toxic contaminants in river sediments, and an ability to address associated issues for an intensive in-river cleanup of contaminated sediment and upland areas. In this capacity the contractor is expected to objectively assess what data has been collected and why, and if there is sufficient data from which to develop a comprehensive cleanup plan.
The contractor is also responsible for relaying key issues to Willamette Riverkeeper (WR) and the Portland Harbor Community Advisory Group (CAG) on a monthly basis in meetings, and to respond to inquiries and questions throughout the Superfund cleanup process from CAG members and WR. The overarching goal for the contractor is to analyze key cleanup issues, spot potential concerns, and provide information for the general public. At present, this process is moving from the Remedial Investigation phase, into the Feasibility Study phase.
